Argumentative Essay
Juvenile curfew among Youth
Juvenile curfew among youth is being implied in many of the countries across the world. This is increasing and a need of today's time as many of the youngsters wander around on streets in odd timings. They need to stay in their houses as they indulge in several activities which are not accepted in society. The right and a strict curfew are applied for the betterment of society, but it has many drawbacks to be highlighted.
Curfews are effective in controlling the crimes and violence being done by youngsters. Child Rights International Network, 2016 stated that children are more likely to be in unlawful acts if they stay outdoors. By staying in, they can be safe from committing crimes, being into bad companies, and becoming a cause of violence. They are being harassed by adult people when they go out. However, applying curfew has no role in the reduction of illegal activities as they still occur most often despite strict laws and banning of youngsters from going out. There is no decrease in the crime rate despite curfews being applied. Children are still being harassed and victimized in schools and homes. Therefore, applying a curfew is no way to control social crimes.
Juvenile curfew is said to be safe for society and is applied to many of the cities around the world. Favro, 2009 stated that curfew is said to be an extensive safety for both children and families. Supporters of the curfew say that it restrains children from any harm they can cause to society, in the form of littering or violating any law. However, it would not be wrong to claim that youth curfew only affects children's' freedom of movement. They cannot explore and learn following their own choices without interference and it can cause psychological problems to them in the form of expression and association. Because of this, the curfew is not the solution to every issue. Youth have the right to explore their lives and experience new things according to their preferences.
Youth curfew is very common in the world as it has an impact on decreased crime rates and other moral activities. Curfews are important to some extent in making the discipline of children. But, it would be not wrong to say that crimes still happen and violence still occurs regardless of the curfew. Juvenile curfews are a violation of the basic rights of young people. They are a hurdle in the social learning of kids ultimately restricting them in many matters in life. There would not be a need for curfew if parents and teachers teach them their responsibilities and their do’s and don’ts in the early period. If they know their duties towards society, they would not go out at odd timings and indulge in bad habits, in the long run, there would not be the need for curfews and there will be the freedom of movement and association and they will savor their golden period of life which is necessary for each growth.
